Confirmed: Breaking Benjamin Is Done
|
TuneLab can now confirm that Breaking Benjamin is in fact broken up, despite statements to the contrary earlier this evening by their website’s administrator. Vocalist Benjamin Burnley told the rest of the band two weeks ago that he was “quitting music” and that they should seek other employment. He repeated that statement to them last week as well. There is no word as of now if that will impact Ben’s two booked solo acoustic shows in July. The statements that the band is “on hiatus” are due to Ben’s camp hoping they can convince him to change his mind and return with new musicians later this year, so there is a chance this could be only temporary. It has been stated several times in the past that he is the only official member of Breaking Benjamin, and that the rest of the band were just hired musicians.
The website/community of Shallow Bay will be shutting down completely, and they will be holding a “Gathering by the Bay” send-off for the site tentatively planned for August that will feature Lifer as a headlining act. Mark Klepaski and Aaron Fink had brought up the idea of a Lifer reunion a few months ago, and original vocalist Nick Coyle has already agreed to help make it happen. The Shallow Bay will still be shut down regardless of whether Ben decides to return with a re-formed Breaking Benjamin or not.

"We filmed this entire video using only one iphone 4, literally minutes after taking it out of the box. All we had were tri-pods that we would tape the phone to or anything we could use to keep the phone steady. The song was recorded using Logic 9, on a MacBook Pro i7. As a disclaimer, this was my first attempt at editing/shooting a video, so if it looks like I have no clue what I am doing, you are right.
This is only a sample of the song. The full version will be released on itunes shortly. In the mean time download our latest single "Take My Future" on itunes."

THROW THE FIGHT Announce New Lineup / New Single July 20

(Minneapolis, Minn.) June 21, 2010 - The Minneapolis-based rock / metal act, Throw The Fight, have announced a new lineup and digital single, which will be released July 20. The band will carry on as a six piece and feature three guitarists. New members include Brian “Stitch” Foster, formerly of Lava Records band, Grade 8, on bass, Kevin Beck and Brooks Bohmbach, formerly of Minneapolis metal act, Saving One, on guitars, and Jeff Baustert, brother of original guitarist, Ryan Baustert, on drums.

According to Baustert, “We had some members that couldn’t continue to tour full time so it was time for a change. Not being able to tour simply isn’t an option for us. We belong on the road. It was a mutual decision between the former members and there is no bad blood at all. Having the new guys in the group is great. The vibe is extremely positive and we’re able to take things to another level musically with three guitarists.”
The group’s new single, ‘Bloodshot Eyes,’ is being released July 20 on the heels of the band’s next full length, due out in the fall/winter of 2010. Most recently, the group has been touring in support of their latest release, ‘In Pursuit of Tomorrow,’ which has garnered the band solid national airplay from college and active rock stations along with support slots with today’s biggest acts such as Avenged Sevenfold, Sevendust, Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Staind, and more. The track will be available digitally via Itunes, Amazon mp3, Napster, and more.

This event is to raise money for homeless and needy people in Arizona. Bands will be sponsoring each lane, and the lane next to the bands for fans. Each band will be given 5 tickets to sell to fans, those fans with purchased tickets will be able to bowl in the lane next to the band!
This is a great opportunity to network with your local music scene and connect with your favorite band, so please take full advantage of this!
We will be filming the event for a documentary and also reaching out to different press formats to cover the event.

KORN - Boycott Use Of BP Oil During Touring Season
| Motivated by the BP disaster and its devastating effects, heavy rock outfit KORN, who have sold more than 30 million records worldwide, take a stand by launching a boycott against using the company's gasoline while on tour this summer. The band has formally announced that it will not be fueling any of its touring vehicles with BP products and is strongly encouraging other touring artists to do the same.
"The daily images are hard to watch," says Korn frontman Jonathan Davis. "We need to do our part to let BP know there are consequences for causing something like this. We want to send a message to corporations like BP so that they will take more preventative measures in the future. The more costly their punishment, the more money they will spend to make sure disasters like this don't happen again. It's plain and simple capitalism."

LONDON (AP) - Ozzy Osbourne is going to give out health advice -- seriously. He will write a health column for the U.K.'s Sunday Times.
Osbourne believes he's a prime example of what not to do.
He admits he's lucky to be alive and he'd hate for anyone to think, "If Ozzy survived all that outrageous behavior, so can I."
He says the worst thing he did was smoke, because he always had a cough and that affected his performances.
He says he's a hypochondriac, too, so he'll be the last one to tell a person not to get something checked out. |

HYDROVIBE - Update From The Band.....
In case you didn't watch the season premier of MTV's "Road Rules Challenge" a couple of weeks ago, you can watch it online. Our songs "Shallow Grave" and "Nothing Left To Lose" were both featured in the episode. What you won't see on the video on their site is the huge on-screen credit that MTV gave us as the song was playing during the television feed... it was pretty cool! They also have us up on MTV.com in the "Songs From The Show" section.
As many of you know, we teamed up with record label SPINNING in Japan to release "Nothing Left To Lose" this March and saw and unrolled a massive PR / Marketing sweep of the country. Hydrovibe was certainly introduced to Japan in a BIG way! They packaged up our CD in a jewel case format with additional artwork and new band photo, additional liner notes, song lyrics (in English and in Japanese), colorful Japanese spine cover insert, and included the Japanese import bonus track "Killer Inside". We just received a small shipment of these limited-edition Japanese Import "Nothing Left To Lose" CDs and have put them up at the Hydrovibe Store for only $20. (WBNS) COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman was in serious condition Friday after she was shot while driving her car.
The shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday at Atcheson and Trevitt streets on the east side, 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.
Police said that Alexandria Reese was driving east on Atcheson Street when gunfire erupted between two groups of men. Some of the bullets struck her vehicle but one bullet struck Reese, 25, in the neck.

We had a great time in Spokane and Moscow this past weekend with Subvert. Thanks to everyone who was a part of it. It was our last show with Brendan and we just wanted to say we love you bro, and we will miss you. It has been a pleasure working with you. You helped us reach a lot of goals and have a lot of fun along the way. You leave some big shoes to fill....
I know for all of the us, and all of the Abrupt Edge fans, it is sad to see Brendan go, but don't fret, Abrupt Edge will press on. We embrace the new challenge, and wish Brendan luck in the next stages of his life. We will be playing our first show as a three piece this Thursday at Tom Grainey's. We hope to see you there!

(Cincinnati Enquirer) Most schools may be out for summer, but on July 1, bass guitarists can start working toward the grooviest music degree around from a new online school called Funk University. The head professor? The name is Bootsy, baby.
William "Bootsy" Collins, the Cincinnatian and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer best known for his stints with James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic and Bootsy's Rubber Band, co-founded Funk University with Cory Danziger, creative director of Los Angeles-based "creativity house," SceneFour. The company has developed artistic and educational projects with musicians including RZA, Marilyn Manson, the Pixies and Beck.
"Bootsy is arguably the funkiest cat in the world," Danziger said. "Who better to teach funk than somebody like Bootsy?"
The school has no physical campus, only a virtual one at www.thefunkuniversity.com. It's complete with lecture halls, classrooms, an auditorium, library, cafeteria and "the track," where students can submit their own music. Students of Funk will get a lot of bass instruction for their buck: Tuition is $34.99 per month, $189.99 for six months or $349.99 for one year.
"The idea was to provide effective training from a marquee musician in an affordable way," Danziger says. "This is a chance to do it for the price of a gym membership."

A SIMPLE COMPLEX - Here She Is....
| In the world of hard rock, a sex change is a very big decision.
Months of trying to find a new singer that had the balls to front a band who's been featured on 11 FM stations and opened for Korn, Drowning Pool, Nonpoint, Halestorm & many others proved near impossible. Several guys responded, most offered a fruitless audition (pun very intended).
But last March, someone got ahold of us and rocked our nuts off. That's when A Simple Complex had to made the big transition. No, nobody in the band underwent a gender reassignment surgery.

There's an old expression; "Want a job done right? Ask a woman!" Well, that's exactly what we did. We've been rehearsing six of the songs from our debut album, plus three new ones. And this bad-ass babe has breathed a fire into the songs so hot that Canada is going to start smelling smoke from New Hampshire for a change. (If you live here, you get the joke.)

So whether you're in Manchester, Dover, Boston, Portland, Worcester or anywhere else we've shown up and stood on your furniture while rocking out, we hope to see you in the crowd moshing, partying, and screaming "Don't Trust Anyone!" along with us like you did in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
