(HYPEBOT.com)Artist funding platform Sellaband has been offline for several days with its front page declaring, "We're currently down for maintenance...we expect to be back up tomorrow by the end of the day."
But documents filed in an Amsterdam court yesterday show that the company has been declared insolvent, a Dutch legal status similar to bankruptcy in the U.S. An English translation of court documents reads simply:
"Pronunciation ams.10.146.F.1306.1.10 bankruptcy after termination suspension on February 22, 2010"
The fate of funds being held for fan investors or for artists like Public Enemy, who were using the platform to raise funds for a new album or for fan investors is unclear. Company officials have not yet responded to an morning inquiry.

TAPS RESAURANT AND TAP ROOM HOSTS BUTTER & EGG PARADE BENEFIT CONCERT SATURDAY FEBRUARY 27
On Saturday evening February 27, two popular Sonoma County bands are joining together to bring an evening of fun and music to TAPS Restaurant and Tap Room, 205 Kentucky Street, to benefit Petaluma’s beloved Butter & Eggs Parade.
The parade, which takes place this year on Saturday, April 24, seemed in danger of cancellation in 2010 due to a combination of increased expenses and city budget cuts, but overwhelming community support, business involvement, and special fund raising activities, such as the February 27 TAPS concert, have turned things sunny side up.

Saturday evening’s festivities will begin at 7:00 pm with the first band, Petaluma bluesmen, Randy & The Special Agents kicking off the music at 7:30. They will be followed at 10:00 by Northern California alternative rockers, Five A.M. – a major North Bay, and Petaluma, favorite – in a rare, not to be missed, acoustic performance.
The ticket price of $15 includes the first beer of the evening and special appetizers provided by TAPS, all music, and as a special added bonus, a free “We Love Our Parade” button which offers special privileges on parade day, and special offers from select downtown merchants. All proceeds from the event go directly to support The Butter & Eggs Parade.

Tickets for this special one time only event can be purchased in advance from the Petaluma Downtown Association (Petaluma Blvd N, Suite A-11) and at TAPS (located at Kentucky and Washington below the historic Petaluma Hotel). While supplies last, tickets will also be available at the door on Saturday, February 27.
TAPS owner and pub master, Eric Lafranchi expressed his own excitement about the event. “What could be better than the chance to have a little beer, a little food, and a little fun while supporting Petaluma’s Big Parade at the same time? It’s a win – win – win for everybody. Let’s Party!”

Right, this is gonna be a long one so buckle your seatbelts!!
First on the list is to say thank you to all you wonderful, amazing fans out there that are simply the best in the world. You've been so supportive and loyal, we are humbled by your dedication to your Milkmen :o)
Secondly, as some of you may be aware, Jay has decided his heart no longer lies in music and has decided to leave Daddysmilk as a member but he will be in the front row, supporting us in his own special 'Jaybo' way. We thank him for all the help he's given us and all the new, amazing fans he's introduced to Daddysmilk.
Thirdly, we have a huge gig coming up at Manchester Academy in March which will be a farewell to Jay and the introduction of our all new shiny bass player!! We would love you to be there to give him a huge welcome and show him some of the love and support we know only our fans are capable of, we know you will make him feel at home!!
Fourthly, BE PREPARED FOR NEW TUNES!!! We have been working on new stuff, some of which we are going to showcase for the first time at the March Academy gig, you have been warned!! So new bass player and new tunes, we know how to spoil you don't we???
Lastly, we are going to have a slight re-vamp of the Myspace so things may not be in the right place or may even vanish only to show up again the next day, don't panic, this is only temporary. If you have any ideas or thoughts on what we should/shouldn't have on there then feel free to let us know, after all it's there for you!!!

Here's some history on Woodward's video shoot for their upcoming premiere of the "Switch Hit Resistor" Video

When Detroit band Woodward asked a local family in Northville if they could use their backyard to shoot a music video for their song “Switch Hit Resistor”, they were simply looking for a set. What they got instead was the support and energy of an entire community. During the two day shoot in July just behind Northville High School, over a hundred people came out to be in the video or just to help out, and the magic just didn’t stop – a neighbor who wandered over to watch the production ended up being cast in a supporting role, a friendly car enthusiast loaned the band his DeLorean for the video's time machine, and a local police department sent a few uniformed officers over for a cameo. Turnout was so large that there were even shuttles ferrying people from the high-school parking lot to the video shoot. For a few days this past summer, Northville became a little slice of Hollywood.... MORE HERE....

Wouldn't this really be a wash? The record industry doles out payola to play their music, and the radio staion get's "taxed". I think radio needs to realize their market is shrinking....and for good reason...unless you move to the "Porn-Radio" format....
For more than 80 years, radio and the recording industry have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship: free play for free promotion. And it works. It’s a relationship that has sustained businesses on both sides.
In fact, radio’s free promotion of artists translates to as much as $2.4 billion annually in music sales for record labels and artists. And this doesn’t even include the enormous revenues they receive from concerts and merchandising.
But the labels–like many businesses–are struggling in this economy. They have failed to adapt to the digital age, and find their business model is broken. And now they want to impose a fee called a performance tax on local radio stations to subsidize their losses.
A performance tax would threaten the local radio stations that communities depend on. It would financially hamstring stations, stifle new artists and harm the listening public who rely on free local radio.

Google Goes After Music Blogs (Well, It's Really The Labels)

Google’s deletion of music blogs accused of distributing music without permission has proven to be a controversial topic this week, as one might expect. Some are calling it “Musicblogocide 2010,” according to The Guardian, whose in-depth article on the topic is titled: “Google shuts down music blogs without warning.”
Nobody likes to hear that music bloggers — who tend to write with infectious enthusiasm benefiting both fans and copyright holders — lost years of work when they may not so much have broken the law as grazed up against it. It seems especially unfortunate if they enabled an avoidable outcome by ignoring or being ignorant of the stakes of not taking the proper corrective actions when formally warned they were in violation of dreaded (and widely ignored) terms of service. (Deleted blogs include Pop Tarts Suck Toasted, Masala, I Rock Cleveland, To Die By Your Side, It’s a Rap, Ryan’s Smashing Life, and Living Ears.)
But the biggest problem here is that the laws and organizations affecting music copyright don’t make any sense when applied to music blogs. Labels often give bloggers permission to post a given track, but that doesn’t stop their representatives from issuing takedown notices for those same songs, as Bill Lipold of I Rock Cleveland noted in Google forums on Wednesday and Thursday.

There is apparently nothing that New York Fashion Week cannot do. It can compel important, sophisticated people to herd themselves like cattle under a tent in frozen Midtown Manhattan, and it can evidently persuade Guns N’ Roses to perform a live show.
On Friday morning music blogs were abuzz with news that Guns N’ Roses, the rock band led by the superlatively erratic frontman Axl Rose, played a surprise set at the John Varvatos store in the East Village. (The location, appropriately enough, is the former site of the music club CBGB.)
The Web site BrooklynVegan.com reported that Mr. Rose and his band appeared early Friday morning after a Thursday night performance by the New York rock group Alberta Cross and proceeded to play 17 songs over 90 minutes....... MORE HERE |

The last rehearsal for the new DYING BREED album went really well . We all set up in a circle with acoustic guitars and bass with T Bone on drums . We went over arrangements and melodies and changed Dirty love a lot . It is even better than I ever thought it could be . Matt is working hard on his melodies and lyrics .... Chopper filled in on bass while Jimmy is overseas and brings a tremendous perspective to harmonies and parts .
If all goes well we will track the end of the month three new songs and you will here samples shortly after These should be completed by March and we will continue on from there.

Springsteen Wants Name Off Royalty Lawsuit Against NYC Bar

People say it doesn't happen, yet here it is....
(Associated Press)Bruce Springsteen wants his name off a lawsuit demanding licensing fees from a Manhattan bar where a band played his songs.
A statement on Springsteen's Web site said he didn't know about the lawsuit that was filed Wednesday (Feb. 3) in federal court and wouldn't have agreed to be a plaintiff if he had been asked.
It says Springsteen's representatives demanded the immediate removal of his name Thursday morning after learning about the lawsuit filed by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. ASCAP didn't immediately return a telephone call seeking comment Thursday night.
The suit claims Connolly's Pub violated Springsteen's copyrights by letting an unidentified band perform two of his songs for profit.
A man who answered the phone at Connolly's said the pub had no comment.

Reunited alternative-era heroes Pavement, modern rockers Modest Mouse, dance-rock wizards LCD Soundsystem, indie-pop diva St. Vincent, rapper Raekown and singer-songwriter Cass McCombs will be among the headlining acts when the fifth annual Pitchfork Music Festival takes place in Union Park on July 16 to 18, the promoters announced today.
Tickets for the festival go on sale at noon via www.pitchforkmusicfestival.com. Single-day tickets are $40, three-day passes are $90, and this year for the first time day one will feature a full roster of bands instead of the music starting on Friday night.
Promoters announced only about a quarter of the acts, with more names to be added to the list in coming weeks. Modest Mouse will perform on Friday; LCD Soundsystem and Raekwon will take the stage on Saturday, and Pavement, St. Vincent, Lightning Bolt, Cass McCombs, Here We Go Magic and Sleigh Bells will close things out on Sunday.

Leider müssen wir euch mitteilen, dass die Rockinvasion im Februar nicht stattfindet! Wir hatten leider keinen Einfluss darauf und verweisen auf das offizielle Statement seitens Management des Headliners:
With regret Die so Fluids management feel that due to the one month delay regarding DSF 3rd album release, now slotted for April 23rd 2010 release.The planned Rock Invasion tour of Germany should and will not go ahead.
Despite the band being very keen to return to Germany, the management feel that a return there playing basically the same set,as on 4 previous occasion's is both unwise and a little unfair.The band will be back in Germany in May with the all new album rock show and poodle trim. Grog returns too London from her now new home in LA to spend most of Feb and March rehearsing and planning production for the new shows, with Al and Drew.
I'm sure there will be disappointed DSF fans, however in all honesty, with the weather as it is not only in Germany but most of Europe,stick on the CD and sing along in the comfort of your own front room,and we will see you all in May when the sun is shining the birds are singing and the bunny rabbits are well, bunnying.

(Wired.com)Provocative website p2pnet.net, the online voice of one of the world’s most blistering and perpetual attacks on the Recording Industry Association of America, is shuttering amid financial doldrums. It’s been vocal for nine years.
“I can’t claim p2pnet has been protecting the world, but I’ve done my best to unspin some of the vested interest corporate spin, and expose a few of the lies and corruption,” the site’s voice and founder Jon Newton said in his “last post” Wednesday.
The Vancouver Island, British Columbia, huckster is looking for donations or even a partnership in hopes of reviving the site that has become infamous for its mocking portrayal of the RIAA, which consists of Vivendi Universal, Sony BMG, EMI and Warner Music.
While Newton mocked the Motion Picture Association of America, the site is best remembered for referring to the RIAA as the “Big 4 Organized Music Cartel,” the “Multi-Billion-Dollar Big 4 Record Companies,” “Hate Organizations,” the “U.S. Spin Organization” and the “Curiously Named Recording Industry Association of America.”
Under the umbrella of the RIAA, the group the past six years has launched tens of thousands of lawsuits against file sharing individuals. Most settled out of court for a few thousand dollars while the two who went to trial were ordered to pay $1.92 million and $675,000. Just last week, a judge reduced the $1.92 million figure to $54,000 for sharing 24 songs on Kazaa.
“They hate anything which interfered with what they see as their God-given right to control how, and by whom, music is distributed online,” Newton wrote in a recent blog post. “They even hate the people who keep them in drugs and booze and who pay their bills.”

There are three very horny bands at the start and we have all been extremely antsy and ready to FUCKIN 'ROCK! Let us now establish what really horny, so we will be able to celebrate in a few weeks 6 parties to be unforgettable and which go down in history!

(One Working Musician)Watching the Grammy Awards tonight I was struck with one thought: they might call that the Music Industry, but that has nothing to do with what I do as a working musician. I have been a professional musician for 15 years, and it’s been my sole job for 9 of those years. But whatever that was on the TV tonight, that’s not even close to my world.
And you know what? Rather than that thought being depressing it is actually quite liberating. Just when I started to get upset about the things I was seeing I realized that the only reason for it to upset me is if it effects me, which it doesn’t. All that pomp and circumstance, all the tuxes and evening gowns, all the money that went into the production, all the out-of-tune and/or lip-synched performances, all the celebrity presenters – that’s a reflection of a completely different world than the one in which I live and work.
